Roles: Additional art, graphic design
I joined State of Play towards the end of the development of Lumino City, an incredible and ambitious project. The team had built an entire model city, filmed each scene and stitched the videos together into a playable puzzle adventure game.
I worked on various environment art and helped design the ‘Handy Manual’ which held the solutions to each puzzle (which you will have only seen if you were really stuck).
We worked well as a team and I joined as a full time designer, going on to develop and ship INKS and KAMI 2 at State of Play.

The Handy Manual
The lead designer wanted a way for players to get help when completely stuck. We hid the solution to each puzzle inside a 700 page tome called the ‘Handy Manual’ which is presented to the protagonist/player early on. This meant designing graphics to clearly illustrate the steps to solving each puzzle.
Most scenes in the game also needed books, diaries, posters and hidden clues, which I collaged together in Photoshop.
